CSE 2022: Plan/ Strategy/ Daily Routine

This is an everything thread for all stuff 2022. You can post your daily goals, end-of-the-day updates, weekly targets or any weird thing you use to measure your progress. You can put into words & post the soul-sucking sadness that is threatening to devour you & your productivity. You can write what made your day & let others experience the happiness too, at least vicariously. This is a thread to pick each other up. This is a thread to keep each other accountable. This is a no-judgement zone.

--------

“This is one more piece of advice I have for you: don't get impatient. Even if things are so tangled up you can't do anything, don't get desperate or blow a fuse and start yanking on one particular thread before it's ready to come undone. You have to realize it's going to be a long process and that you'll work on things slowly, one at a time.”

Targets for April 18 (day 49) - jkas - psir paper 2

God is great. Good luck dostoen : )

Finally done with ut psc mains. To be honest, studying in the past two weeks had been very gruesome. But Neyawn Sir has rightly written once, we suffer more in imaginations than in reality.

Today also marks the 50th evening of posting targets over here. This thread has inspired me the most in these otherwise challenging days. Thank you all, you people are best.

Targets for April 19 - 23 (day 50 - 54) - on break. There is a long list of non study work that has piled up.

Regarding upsc, with month long deliberations and conscious choice making, I have decided to skip cse 2022 this year. I have flunked in mains thrice by now, and to be honest I am not able to gauge where things are going wrong after last attempt. This jkpsc also kept me busy and time to prepare for prelims has gone. Most likely, taking a break would give much needed introspection for mains. I repeat, neither giving up nor moving on, but just delaying success by a year.

Planning to stick to this thread for coming months. Would appear in some non upsc exams and finally switch to upsc post monsoon.

To all those appearing in cse 2022, please keep putting in all your efforts. You can do it. Please let me know if i can help somehow. My DM would always remain open.

23 ki shaam ko milenge dostoen. Would come back with renewed energy.

Himmat e marda madad e khuda. Best wishes : )

Hello guys , how you all analyse a mock test ??

three things i look for..

1. Mistakes i committed on must know areas: like Lakshmikanth type stuff.. This i take a note separately and revise multiple times( close to 5).

2. Knowledge deficit: especially in history and geography. Can bridge them by going through the answer solutions.

3. Percentage of 50:50 options going your way( after consistent practice it will be close to 65 percent in favour of you).

Hello guys , how you all analyse a mock test ??

https://blog.upscprep.com/p/analyse-prelims-tests?s=r

I found this to be a useful guide

In addition to this, some things that have helped (for FLTs mostly)

1) I attempt tests in 3 rounds, with 3rd round being where i make max guesses. After the test, I count the marks per round. If I'm scoring a net positive in the 3rd round, it means I'm gaining by making guesses so I can safely attempt more questions. If I'm losing more marks than expected in the 2nd round, it means there were stuff I thought I knew but I got wrong; signalling that I lack revision. This helps identify problem areas.

2) For static portion, if I got a question wrong, I try to go back to my notes and figure out if the answer was there directly or indirectly. This helps in better recollection of my notes + improves application skills as most times questions can be solved by using info already available but presented in a different manner.

Gross Cropped Area has been increasing since independence, although its rate of increase has decreased specially post 1991.

Net Sown Area is decreasing due to urbanisation, land degradation and so on

Don't have any official sources but I remember reading this from a test I had given earlier.
