I think after a point, this exam is all about luck. Please someone correct me if you think otherwise. I wanna live my 20s to the fullest, have new and thrilling experiences, get a whole new exposure of the world.

Why restrict oneself in a corner or a cubicle, screwing up mental health, and become a gambler?

Does anyone else feel they could have written this point, that point in the actual exam? Especially now going through my optional it's like "How could have I missed writing that point!". It's one thing that you haven't studied/don't know it, but another feeling of immense regret to not write what you did know.

Everyone.

Ever in the history of writing upsc exam.

That has to do with humanities.

@Neyawn I remember you mentioned dirty notes somewhere (something we scribble and throw away at the centre after reading) I used dirty notes for both Optional papers. Just very specific things (Names and works of geographers for Paper 1 and just a few case studies for Paper 2 to quote). I read this for 15 minutes and threw them away 10-15 minutes before the beginning of the exam. Because of the freshness, I was able to effectively quote them! Thanks!

Thank you. Freedom is yours!

Go out now, take a breath of fresh air. Plan a trip to the mountains or the sea shore, depending on weather you are a beach person or mountain person.

If anyone has maths and is thinking of changing this is the best time. Once December is gone, we are done!

Saying things like go as per your passion, every paper is scoring , all papers are equal is for YouTube talks.

There are more than 20 folks I know who did well changing large optionals.

@Tata Fjord was a bouncer. Wrote a complete incorrect answer. Baaki average/below average answers hi hai

Totally. A part of upsc is being rational and sticking to rational, content driver questions, undoing what it did in the prelims.

And yet a part of the commission wants to ask random questions to keep aspirants confused.

@Proton9 honestly, the difference will be made on the basis of who is studying from.Oct to December.

You see students like Anuradha ( ifos rank 3) this year and Natasha goyal ( 175 rank , 5attempt, first mains ), they got out of the rut because they were studying during this time.

Taking VRS?

I'm being compulsorily retired. They've declared me 'deadwood'. 🥲

@Neyawn will they even care a random letter and email i bubbled correctly and the number is also understandable because it is 1 so just a straight line.

The letter is not for them. The letter is your proof, if something goes wrong. Also remember no matter how big aN organisation, a written letter makes a lot of difference.

How was the GS2 paper this time i found it little hard from last year.

Most difficult than all other GS papers.
But my answers seemed better than last year's GS2. But my prep was also a bit heavy this time. So maybe that might've been a factor.
But yeah. As compared to other GS papers, this one was most offbeat.

@Davidjones ,

Dost, luckily it was achcha din. Attempted 480 ( Getting 220+ correct in each paper )

But again would say , P1 was lengthier, error prone and In P2 modern algebra was bottleneck.

For me, It was case of "Doodh ka Jala chach bhi phonk phonk kr pita hai ". Got 227 in maths last year due to time mismanagement in last month before mains and panicked after P1. But this year did rigorous practice , gave around 50+ tests. Used calculator extensively to ensure high accuracy.

Overall, I felt question selection was key this year, some question would take 40+ mins to ensure correct attempt like Q2 in P1 but some can be done in 25 mins if comfortable with concepts like Q4 in P1.

In both papers , had 25 mins for last non compulsory tough question but luckily picked right one and didn't panic like last year.

How was Essay this year?  I find it difficult. The philosophical one was not the conventional topic, while section b was static but that too not simple. What you guys think? ( wrote Thinking and Education)

i cant categorize essay as easy or difficult. for me it is difficult when im unable to decode the demand of the essay and if i can, i dont have enough dimensions/examples for a good essay. these things didnt happen for me

@iphoole Same. I am often jumping out of my chair/bed and asking myself why didn't I write this/how did I miss this. Yet, I also realise the time and performance pressure inside the hall that has led to this.
