2.The Hindu

(Some news are better to watch when you’re not willing to read)

3.Philosophy Tube

4.The School of Life

(Personality development)

5.NowThis World

10.Veritasium

P.S. - There are many other channels like YouTube channels of various coaching institutions. They are more in numbers so not possible to list every institution.

I have picked only 10 channels based on cost-benefit ratio most of the videos on these channels are short so will not take more than 10-20 minutes few are hour long but not more than that. And other channels like Dhruv rathee n all you may consider but there are many negatives too while considering them for upsc.

And for study vlogs you can watch anyone you like my personal two favourites are SN Log (IITD Alumni,CSE2020 Interview) And Sunsun (Korean medical Student).

Post is based on Personal opinion and likes.

I dont know about others and I am also not a regular viewer of study vlogs, but I will share my state of mind while I;m watching them.

There was a phase when I was in a rut for a very long time ... This can happen many times during the phase of our preparation where we are just not in the zone of studying.. I have been preparing from home and don't go the library either. I realized that watching study vlogs in such phases nudge me to come out of that rut and encourage me to make a plan for myself, to start slowly and gradually coming back to my previous performance.

..Ofcourse I dont watch each and every vlog that is being posted but ...Again, this is what helps me  ...I don't know what others think about them.

About study vlogs I will say that there was a time when study vlogs were really nice. Now what I see is they are just made for garnering views. There are 2-3 of them which have come into my notice, where sometimes they show its there last attempt and then show that they are preparing for their first attempt. Similarly some show they have cleared and then they are again giving exams and all.

The problem is not ki dhanda banaya hua hai rather yeh ki  they start giving gyaan on this exam, jabki khud ek attempt diya nhin hai. Misleading people. But jab youtube pe itna mislead kr rhi rahe hai through funacademy and all, toh yeh 1-2 naye aajayegen toh usse kya hi.

SNLogs was really good. Sadly she is not active now. She was class apart from recent ones which have come up. Now it is more like family vlogging channels , rozi roti dikhate hai. And promotions krte hai funacademy ka.

Basically vlogging not for motivation but because woh unka dhanda hai :/

P.S I really want to name them taaki people become aware and unko faltu ke views na de but I am not sure. I think mentioning them here faltu ka unko limelight bhi dega.

There is one named tara's ...... and one with some very ajeeb name ep---vlogs. Complete bullshit!

@sstaarr not to mention these days study vlogs are mainly focused on promoting coaching or online study platform. Nothing wrong in earning money out of YouTube but I have seen some study vlogs where majority part of vlog is dedicated to brand promotion (someone promoting mama Earth in study vlog !!)

Hello there,

I think it was the lockdown that helped emerge study vlogs. And i have not seen any Upsc study vlog channel other than SNlog so can’t say much about others The reason why SNlog and sunsun are favourite (your question)

Both of them have specific reasons. Firstly the SNlog - I checked her background that she appeared in interview (I checked it in the mains result) and read her mains copy so that became the reason it made me to watch how she is studying and she is not flooding her YouTube with daily videos she merely has 5-6 videos in 2 years. And i used to watch it once 20-25 days not weekly and daily. The second one Sunsun - she is medical student from South Korea. And I truly adore their study culture because they are so disciplined and hardworking so through her channel i got some insights of their schedules like how much they study and what they do in whole day. And we inherently have bias for some and we can’t explain them accurately. So this is how i liked them

Second part of the question how they help - when i used to study for continuously 15-20 days , time hits us that we realise time is playing inflate deflate strategy and that was the perfect time i used to watch these vlogs and push myself back on track after a break. For me it worked I’m not sure about others like for some it can worked and for some it can backfire like how they are doing so well and all , they have Ipad , luxury. This kind of negative thoughts can also hit you. So it depends on the individual how you are making use of them. But mostly i will say do verify the channel you are watching ( i throughly verified both of them ).

P.s. - My whole focus while writing the above list was to mention Helpful channels and not to include study vlog channels in that list so that’s why I mentioned them after the list cause it’s not helpful for all as much a Down to earth video can.
