Regarding medieval History of India  , Rebel Sultans by Manu Pillai has to be the most beautifully written work on the subject. The book flows effortlessly and you dont even realise that you have been reading it for hours. Just one reading of this book will dispel your dread of medieval history and you will be left with a craving for more. It would hardly take a week to finish it and in just in one reading you will be able to retain a lot of stuff as the book is not merely an archive of dates and wars and personalities but a rich tapestry of bravery, betrayal, balance of power, blinding of brothers, of habsi/abbysian slaves rising to power and glory and much more.

if you still are not convinced i would like to tell you that questions like on Tavarnier, vijayanagar, medieval ports, Devaraya 2, devgiri, dwarsamundra, etc could be done easily if you had read this book. The only downside is that its area of interest is politica of deccan so Northern Empires will not be covered in as much detail and will only make guest appearances here and there.

PS- i might be lying as well to lure people into reading something that i like  so use your discretion  XD
