Geology Paper 1-General Geology
Hello, you solve 3 tests in a day ? I mean how do you implement it , please share some light. Thanks in advance.
solving a test takes an hour, then its analysis for 1.5 hrs by going thru the solutions. so 8 hrs for three tests..
and how do you revise them at later stage? by making notes or something else?
Nope. by going through them again. I am not a believer of note making..I go through the boldened words in the explanation again
Hello guys , how you all analyse a mock test ??
three things i look for..
1. Mistakes i committed on must know areas: like Lakshmikanth type stuff.. This i take a note separately and revise multiple times( close to 5).
2. Knowledge deficit: especially in history and geography. Can bridge them by going through the answer solutions.
3. Percentage of 50:50 options going your way( after consistent practice it will be close to 65 percent in favour of you).
Back again!
CGL was a mixed bag, and not pinning any expectations to it.
44 days to go! Have planned to divide my revision into four phases from here. The first phase, starting today, will involve in-depth revision of every subject except polity and modern India, which I've already completed.
Phase 1, Day 1: 22.04.22
1. Mrunal Pillar 1 (1/2)
2. Forum ques bank- Banking and Capital Market
3. Insta eco CA- 20 pages
Happy junoon, mates!
Managing CGL and UPSC is not easy.. I took a year break from CSE and attempted several exams out of which i cracked SSC CGL. So take a call. At the end nicking a job is the key.
True. The only problem is i didn't take the break I should have for CGL. giving this attempt to upsc, and if I fail, will take a break and get myself a job first.
Good thinking...Give various exams which have overlapping syllabus(maths+English+reasoning+GK). U r sure to nick one of them..exams u can consider giving are SSC CGL, RBI, NABARD and SEBI..
Anybody else faced time problem in actual prelims (specifically last year one)?
I mean I can solve mocks in 1 hour/1hr 15 minutes /sometimes 1 hr 30 minutes but in actual paper 1st round took almost my whole two hours. It was a mess.
Any suggestions on how to improve is welcome.
Treat the final exam as another mock..You will not face this issue.. And also laugh or smile in between ..It relieves the stress.. I laughed for sometime after seeing sports questions in the paper!!!
@Pantheon hiw doyou go about PYQs,look at old paper as a whole or study topic wise. What is the best way to utilize them?
Paper as a whole. Topic wise study may not yield good results except for say most important ones like FR, FD,DPSP, economic terms and concepts
@Pantheon how to get 20 year old papers with answer,i know there are many subject wise compilations do you use them or you have old papers and solve them as a whole? Thanks for the previous response.
Solve on your own and google the answers..this way the answers will stick in your mind for a long time
As much as I try to attempt mocks in rounds, I continuously fail to do so and end up doing the paper in one round. Though for me one round is quite comfortable.
Anyone who has qualified prelims doing one round only?
What should I try to do in upcoming mocks?
If your temperament suits you to attempt in only one round.. Then repeat the same.. A strategy which works multiple times will work another time in all probability. I myself attempt the paper in one go
How do you guys remember "contemporary type" questions in ancient, medieval history. Do you actually remember the dates or is there a story linking two events. Like that Iltutmish-Chengiz khan-Tughlaq-Timur type questions. They completely bamboozle me, no matter how much i try to remember their actual dates. Complicate this with Bhakti Sufi saints and it becomes unfathomable. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Most of the times, the contemporary questions options are framed wrongly. The one in 2021 was tight in terms of years and that made it tough. Although you can still go for marking them as false. However i have a thing or two with dates.. So i mark them right!!
All the best@Pantheon and@Jurgen_klopp
Rooting for you guys! Will be cheering on :D
