CSE 2022: Plan/ Strategy/ Daily Routine

This is an everything thread for all stuff 2022. You can post your daily goals, end-of-the-day updates, weekly targets or any weird thing you use to measure your progress. You can put into words & post the soul-sucking sadness that is threatening to devour you & your productivity. You can write what made your day & let others experience the happiness too, at least vicariously. This is a thread to pick each other up. This is a thread to keep each other accountable. This is a no-judgement zone.

--------

“This is one more piece of advice I have for you: don't get impatient. Even if things are so tangled up you can't do anything, don't get desperate or blow a fuse and start yanking on one particular thread before it's ready to come undone. You have to realize it's going to be a long process and that you'll work on things slowly, one at a time.”

— Haruki Murakami, Norwegian Wood

There was a general query, how often do you guys plan?

Like not daily plans but broadly related to preparation monthly and weekly may be.

The honest answer is that I do it whenever I'm slacking off and I need to re-evaluate. Usually try to keep segment the targets in terms of big chunks (I'll finish X,Y,Z papers in 2 months), small chunks (I'll finish A,B chapters in week 1, B,C in week 2 and so on) and micro chunks (what the google sheet is doing for us essentially)

I usually come back to it every Sunday and see how I'm doing with respect to my targets, then I tweak the targets a little and move ahead.

Also, I've realised that sometimes the burden of a couple of bad days can be huge, so we need to find balance between being worried and being content. Some people split their targets into 2 categories - Bare Minimum and desirable, perhaps that'll help you. All the best!

Yeah I do the same. Tried bare minimum concept but didn't work for me.

But this constant reviewing takes a lot of time and also I feel little doubtful about how can I keep changing my approach again and again.

May be changing approach is the correct approach.

There is a saying, "Those who fail to plan, plan to fail". It is okay to give it 30 minutes every week :)

I hope it is. What I do is try to keep the long term targets on track despite messing up a couple of weeks. If you're in the long term target +-10 days range you're on the right track.

Again I'm not fit to be giving any advice considering that I haven't written mains, so take what I way with a pinch of salt.
