CSE 2022: Plan/ Strategy/ Daily Routine

This is an everything thread for all stuff 2022. You can post your daily goals, end-of-the-day updates, weekly targets or any weird thing you use to measure your progress. You can put into words & post the soul-sucking sadness that is threatening to devour you & your productivity. You can write what made your day & let others experience the happiness too, at least vicariously. This is a thread to pick each other up. This is a thread to keep each other accountable. This is a no-judgement zone.

--------

“This is one more piece of advice I have for you: don't get impatient. Even if things are so tangled up you can't do anything, don't get desperate or blow a fuse and start yanking on one particular thread before it's ready to come undone. You have to realize it's going to be a long process and that you'll work on things slowly, one at a time.”

I hate to say it...but i think csat is clerk level/ssc math which isnt for decision makers! I think sitting at home writing mock tests for such a thing is a shame! i wrote this exam thrice. i think csat is plain stupidity. i think the cutoffs in paper 1 are falling cuz of csat. good people who get 110-115 even 120 arent qualifying!

Csat was tough. First paper attenpted 85. Machines gonna relax. Csat may destroy my mains hopes but machine says feels like its time to move on. I wont say i wont qualify but uts 50-50. If they want clerks/SSC exam aspirants to take over ias/ips/irs/ifs then fine. No wonder cut off fell to 87. Every time a person with 106 in paper 1 doesnt qualify cuz of csat, there is one  csat guy who qualifies.  I think its shame! I am fortunate i can afford to let these three years pass. Its alright. Its okay to not get upsc. There are bigger and better things to do than sit at home and do clerk level/ssc level math! I am a fricking engineer! Would rather prep for CAT if thats the case!

Having a basic level of aptitude seems more important and relevant for a IAS/IPS than knowing a random medieval history fact.

well the number of difficult questions have increased significantly so it's definitely more than basic. It might even reach CAT level pretty soon at this rate, e.g. circular track question, large exponent based numbers comparison (didn't know I have to memorize log2 and log3 values for basic level or learn mclaurin series...). All these require learning special concepts so that you have ready made formulas to apply in the exam.

Unpopular opinion but csat was better than last year. Last year it had multiple concepts ( calenders and permutations) in one question. Also the passages were on difficult end along with only one question per passage in most. ( Not saying that this year its easy, it wasn't).

This year I was surprised to see passages with 3 related questions and they were on easier side ( compared to last year), which generally doesn't happen.

I am of the opinion that eliminations are increasing due to csat and this would remain in practice in future too as margin for the same in paper 1 is less where most of the serious candidates have a good grip on static part.

Why does getting 110 is GS1 become a criteria for being "good people" ? UPSC has given 2 papers in prelims and to qualify you need to satisfy both criteria. Its not about "good people" being unlucky due to difficult CSAT.

What about those people then who don't qualify due to randomness of GS1 despite having excellent answer writing skills?

Random stuff being asked in GS1 is not relevant to being a good civil cervant at all.

Guys anyone confirm the answer to this? Is it 40 or 40.4?

On one side of a 1.01 km long road, 101

plants are planted at equal distance from

each other. What is the total distance

between 5 consecutive plants?

(a) 40 m

(b) 40-4 m

(c) 50 m

(d) 50.5 m

Getting around 94. Should i start for mains? Kuch raah dikhaoo bhaiyon. Made some very silly mistakes in 4-5 extremely simple questions. Anyways! Please tell what to do?

Suno.. bhai test series to result aane ke bad hi join karna.. Abhi agar lagta hai to Ethics and optional padh lo.

@Sankoza 40.4
Road is 1010m long, there are 100 gaps to be filled between 101 plants, hence each gap is 10.1m wide. Now, between 5 consecutive plants, there are 4 gaps, thus total space = 4*10.1 = 40.4

There is no harm in doing this.
Rather than wasting 20 days, do something that will increase ur chances of clearing mains..
94 seem a reasonably decent score considering the type of paper ..

Here is my thinking:

For 101 lamps, there are 100 gaps: lamp-1 gap-1 lamp-2 gap-2 lamp-3 .... gap-100 lamp-101

It's simpler to understand this if the question had (say) only 2 lamps.

so length of one gap = 1010/100 = 10.1m

now for five consecutive ones, there are 4 gaps (same logic as above) so 4*10.1 = 40.4m

If csat like this continues..... Nation will see another protest against the pattern of the csat...

It benefits people from IITs and other...

Till 2018 it was basic but now it is becoming extremely difficult.....

Ab agr CAT level wale candidates UPSC want...  Then there is no debate.
