CSE 2021: Plan / Strategy / Daily Routine

Hello 2021 aspirants. I thought it would be nice if we can share what we are doing and intend to do with one another here.

This could be a thread for discussing everything prep for 2021.

No one method fits all but to see the plans and progress made by fellow aspirants might help with the finer details of preparation and also keep one on track.

Much needed one.

Till Feb: cover mains and optional

March- June: pre specific.

I have opted for Socio and doing all the preperation on my own. Can it be done through self study?

@Wordsmithyy Of course. In fact, it can be done in a much better way through self study.

Great initiative. I took the 2020 Prelims, not sure of qualifying. So, preparing in an integrated manner.

For 2021 :

Oct-Dec: Optional both papers(With note-making and PYQ practice(30%)), Mains answer writing practice

Jan - March: Optional Test series(Maybe) + PYQ practice, Mains Test series

@Vinay12 Hi , just wanted to ask you from where are you doign topics like labour reforms, ineqaulity , growth and development? can you pls elaborate on your economics strategy

@sstarrr  what im dng for GS3 economics is for every gs3 topic, i write down 7-8 subtopics in it both static & current. for example -issues related to plannning &mob. of resources is the topic - FC, FRBM act, fiscal council, GST &compenstion cess, NITi ayog, Local body resources & issues, Tax reforms etc are the sub topics.

so, I take 2page notes for every subtopic. my sources are current affairs, nitiayog strategy for new india and eco.survey.

for current topic - I follow civilsdaily website where all major editorials are categorised. I used to search for articles in google earlier but I found the website useful as all articles, editorials are in one place.

u can see this link https://www.civilsdaily.com/story/issues-related-to-economic-growth/

so I read editorials for 4months(june-oct) for a particular topic(civilsdaily) and if i get more time, ill also browse through secure compilations (again 4 months ) in that topic. +Niti ayog report. whatevr source, I try to stick by 2 page notes. thats it.

sticking to time, sources is important. could finish 4-5 topics in a day so in a week u could have substantial notes for economy part. This is the plan. Hopefully I complete it.

Can any of you guys active here help me with this?

I am preparing economy for the first time. Watching mrunal videos but I am not finding them much comprehensive. Sometime I feel a number of videos in the series are not relevant for 2021 exam , which is kind of obvious too but since this only is available source as well as well recommended one, I guess there is no much choice.

So, is this approach right to follow this along with NCERT? Also, I am not able to make good notes from Mrunal videos, its just that he makes the most of the terms easy to understand in the subject.

I had studied from Ramesh Singh and I found it to be very comprehensive. No wonder, It happens to be my primary source for Indian Economy. You may have a look and at least go through it once to see whether you find it good enough. Additionally, I have Sanjeev Verma which has some good chapters especially when viewed from Mains perspective.

i have seen mrunal long time back for conceptual clarity and nt following these days. my advice si take notes even if its simple 3-4 lines in ur own words & examples from mrunal videos. Follow a single book either ramesh singh(selective topics) or shankar ganesh(it uses simple language). most important for economy is eco survey&budget, current affairs and good understanding of concepts.

I have also heard that Shankar Ganesh is very nice for conceptual clarity and making a good base for Economy. And I concur with you here too that Economic Survey and current developments in Economic sector are most important for our exam particularly Mains. The articles of Yojana magazine are very much relevant, too.
