50. There are 2 candidates P & Q in an election. During the campaign, 40% of the voters promised to vote for P and rest for Q. However, on the day of election 15% of the voters went back on their promise to vote for P and instead voted for Q. 25% of the voters went back on their promise to vote for Q and instead voted for P. Suppose P lost by 2 votes, then what was the total number of voters?

no of candidates who passed the examination= 80% of 7x= (28x/5)no of girls who passed the examination= 90% of 3x= (27x/10)So, no of boys who passed the examination= (28x/5)- (27x/10)= (29x/10)As %= (29/40)*100= 72.5%

48. The ratio of number of boys and girls who participated in an examination is 4:3. The total percentage of candidates who passed the examination is 80, and the percentage of girls who passed the exam is 90. The percentage of boys who passed the exam is?
boy = 4x ; girl = 3x ; total = 7x
total passed is 80% =>0.8 * 7x = 5.6x
girls passed is 90% =>0.9* 3x = 2.7x
hence boy passed = 5.6x-2.7x = 2.9x
pass percentage = 2.9x / 4x =0.725 or 72.5 %
